Corporate Social Responsibility Policy

This policy sets out the principles and practices we follow in relation to our impact on the world within which we function


Shared responsibility
Social responsibility involves everyone in our business. This policy exists to ensure that everyone, both within Pennine Holdings and those from outside interacting with us, understands that they share the responsibilities towards the world within which we function. Whilst our policy should fit in easily with our everyday activities, these must be modified where necessary to take account of our social and environmental responsibilities.

Honesty and accountability
We will take all practicable steps to share our specific social and environmental policies, objectives and actual performance openly and honestly with others with an interest in them, including customers and suppliers. We will encourage them to communicate with us and will seek their views.

Sustainable progress
We are committed to the on-going improvement of both our business and our wider social performance. We will take into account technical developments, changing scientific evidence, costs and customer concerns and expectations in the development and implementation of all new social and environmental procedures. We will monitor our performance, set objectives for improvements and report our progress in a timely way.

Demonstrable compliance
We aim to operate within the spirit of the law as well as the law itself. Therefore, as a minimum, we will meet or exceed all relevant legislation. Where no legislation exists we will seek to develop and implement our own appropriate standards.


We will take all reasonable steps to manage our operations so that we minimise our environmental impact and to promote good environmental practice. We will regularly review our business practices and performance to identify how we can improve our energy efficiency, reduce water usage, waste disposal and air emissions.

We will conduct our business relationships with integrity and courtesy, honour our trading, commercial and project commitments, and aim to build strong long-term relationships with our customers, suppliers, workers and communities. For example, we will not promise more than we can reasonably deliver or make commitments we cannot or do not intend to keep.

We aim to build and maintain meaningful relationships with our customers, suppliers and the local communities we are part of by encouraging all involved to consider the needs of others, both in the short and long-term. We will join them in supporting local community groups, social enterprise and charities; including support for their efforts in fund raising.

We will respect our full-time, part-time and interim workers, whether directly employed by us or not, and encourage their personal development and training. We will promote equality as differences in responsibilities permit and consider the interests of our workers including their welfare and health and safety. We aim to empower our workers and we will recognise individual contributions and reward our workers fairly.
